What Kind of Church Are You?

 This is the most oft asked question I get when I tell people that we are starting a church and I must be honest, it is a still a bit strange.

Typically, when people ask this question, they are really asking one of three other questions but don’t have the confidence to say what they really want to ask:
  • What denominational tag do you wear? 
  • Can I wear jeans and do you have a band?
  • Who got mad at you or who are you mad at that caused you to plant a church?
Once I uncover which of these questions people are asking it becomes a bit easier for me to answer their real question. However, I don’t like answering any of these questions because they don’t really get to the heart of the real reason we are planting a church or the true type of church we desire to create.
 
So rather than dodging the questions, I decided to spend some time in a series of posts answering the question, “What kind of church are you?” Over the coming days I will seek to answer that question as well as allow some of my partners at Renewal to share about why they believe in what we are doing.
