The Team Expands
Several years ago, while at Southeastern Seminary and North Wake Church, I met Hugh and Hollie Carson.
During this critical phase in the life of my family, God used his Word to reveal the primacy of the local church. Also, I understood clearly that one of the most important aspects of the local church is the people that God entrusts to lead her. While we did not know it at the time, God was preparing us to link up with the Carsonsat some time in the future. And that time is now.

Hugh is husband to Hollie (married 6 years). He is daddy to two sweet, little girls, Laney (3) & Mattie (7.5 mos.). Hugh came to faith in Christ as a sophomore in high school. In his college years, Hugh began to learn what it meant to really walk with the Lord. During that time he sensed God's calling on his life to enter vocational ministry. After graduation, Hugh served as a missionary in East Asiathrough the IMB. He backpacked in search of the "N" people, an unreached people group. He and his partner prayed and mapped their way through each village, so that those villages could be targeted for gospel literature distribution.
After returning back to the States, Hugh and Hollie began dating and were married a year-and-a-half later.
In 2005 they moved to Wake Forest, NC to begin seminary at SEBTS to get trained and prepared for ministry.
By the grace of God, the Carsons were plugged into a dynamic local church. Hugh has grown more from being planted in the soil of this local church than from being a seminary student. During this time, God birthed a passion in his heart for the primacy of the local church and for making disciples. He experienced for the first time what it meant for believers to live together in community to increasingly grow in Christ-likeness. Hugh graduated from seminary in December 2009 with a Masters of Divinity. His desire has been to find a local church to serve and plant deep roots in that community. Hugh has been drawn to Renewal by the kindness of God to be part of a body of believers seeking to bring gospel renewal to their community.
Beginning immediately, Hugh and his family are working to raise financial support which will allow their family to relocate to Greenville to be a part of what we are doing with Renewal. Hugh will join our leadership team and oversee the small-group and discipleship areas of our ever-expanding ministries.
Take some time today to pray for the Carsons as they seek to sell their home, raise support, and relocate to Greenville. We have set up emails for the Carsons, and I would encourage you to drop them a note of thanks and encouragement.
