Renewal Will Frustrate You If...You Are Just Looking For A Place To Go On Sundays

Because we believe that the church is a “people who” and not a “place where”, the main focus of Renewal Church is not simply the Sunday morning corporate gatherings but rather on the people to whom God has entrusted to us.  We recognize the role of the weekly gathering, but we prioritize the lives of individual believers living out and embodying the kingdom of God each and every day.

A cursory glance at the Scriptures reveals that they are replete with examples of the communal life of the people of God.  Here we are encouraged to do the following:
Love one another
Do not oppress one another
Be at peace with one another
Show hospitality with one another
We are members one of another
Honor one another
Do not judge one another
Receive one another
Do not excuse one another
Do not fight with one another
Serve one another
Do not envy one another
Admonish one another
Wait for one another
Greet one another
Care for one another
Bear the burdens of one another
Show deference to one another
Forgive one another
Be kind to one another
Submit to one another
Do not lie to one another
Provoke to good works one another
Comfort one another
Concern yourself in the affairs of one another
Do not hate one another
Do not speak evil of one another
Pray for one another
Be like-minded toward one another
Do not hold a grudge against one another
Highly esteem one another
Do not be partial toward one another
Have fellowship with one another
Edify one another
Teach one another
Do good to one another
Exhort one another
Minister spiritual gifts to one another
We recognize that it is difficult, if not impossible, to accomplish these Biblical exhortations simply in the context of a one hour gathering on a Sunday morning.  Therefore, much more emphasis at Renewal will be given to equipping the saints for the work of the ministry as they live the gospel seven days a week than will be placed a creating a once a week pinnacle moment for people to come to a building and meet with God.  While we affirm the importance of the corporate gathering, we are grieved at the lack of emphasis for people to engage with God and each other throughout the week.

In an age of consumeristic Christianity, where church shopping abounds, we have little interest in being another in an already replete smorgasbord of places that people can gather on a Sunday.  Instead, it is our desire to gather together a people of God intent on fulfilling the Great Commission together.
To that end, we invite you to join with us on mission, not simply to join with us on Sundays.
