A Taste of What's to Come
Any time you start something new, whether a new business or a new church, the first days of its existence are critical to establish the characteristics that will shape it for the foreseeable future. As we begin Renewal, it is imperative that we show our community the type of church that we are trusting the Lord to create. That is why Saturday was such an important first step for Renewal as we partnered with five other churches in the area to serve our community in a meaningful way. As single moms prepare to send their kids back to school and struggle with the needs, pains, and anxieties that being a single parent often bring, we desire to model the love of Christ by serving them and giving away free school supplies, meals, and even haircuts. Over the course of four hours, we were able to serve 325 single moms in the greater Greenville community and paint a picture for these moms of the love of Jesus. Following this time, about 15 future Renewal members, traveled around Greenville to intentionally pray for our community.

Not only am I proud that we were able to be a part of this great day, but I am encouraged that this day perfectly models what I am trusting the Lord to create through Renewal. As a church, I am praying that we would be known by the following characteristics:
A Church That Goes – Faithfully living out the gospel in the world, rather than simply expecting people to come to our gathering on Sunday.

A Church That Serves – Actively finding ways to meet tangible needs in our community, rather than simply doing things that make us comfortable and happy.

A Church That Partners – Intentionally partnering with other gospel-centered, mission minded churches in our area, rather than simply being about our own individual church.

A Church That Prays – Humbly trusting God to do things that only He can do, rather than depending on our own creativity, ingenuity, or skill.

We are confident in the finished work of Jesus and power supplied by the Sprit in building His church (Matthew 16:18) and we are trusting that this is the type of church He will build.
